CranioSacral Therapy

What is craniosacral therapy?

Like the respiratory and cardiovascular rhythms there is the craniosacral rhythm. All three systems influence every cell in the body by bringing nourishment and information to the cells. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull to the sacrum. It is a semi porous hydraulic system leading the fluid into every part of the body. Therefore the whole body can be influenced by treating this system. Since this vital system influences the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord, an imbalance or restriction can cause a large number of health challenges like chronic pain, sensory and motor problems, neurological or learning disabilities, and scoliosis.

How is it done?

The patient is asked to wear comfortable loose clothing for the appointment. The treatment takes place on a treatment table. The therapist uses light touch. During the evaluation the rate, amplitude, symmetry and quality of the cerebral spinal fluid will be detected. The treatment consists of the influencing of this system into its normalcy. You may feel very relaxed like being in deep meditation.
