Somato Emotional TherapyWhat is somato emotional therapy? When we hold on to negative emotions the body reacts. For example, when we are sad, we may bend forward and look down. This may further inhibit our outlook on life and physically restrict the lungs and the ribs and the heart. The emotion is an energy that binds us into tight ness in the body in general as in fear, or it may accumulate in a spot of the body like when we have an upset stomach because of anger while trying to eat. Undissolved issues from the past are common. If not taken care or they can turn into physical pain. How is it done? This treatment is done on a treatment table. The patient should wear loose and comfortable clothing. The Therapist feels off the body and on the body for any variations in the energy field of the body. Where ever there is a void of energy is where the “energy cyst “is. This is the place where I would place my hands. An energy cyst has a membrane and is filled with the pattern of emotional holding. No normal energy is able to flow through it. By contacting the bubble we contact the emotion. You will be asked to speak about the feeling that you feel in this particular area, that I can further facilitate your needs. But if you don’t want to speak, that’s ok too. The membrane will open and either come to conscious awareness, or dissipate. If the true underlying problem did not get addressed, then the membrane will close back up, but may behave differently in follow up sessions. How often is it done?It depends on the severity and on the progress of the sessions. Sometimes somato emotional releases occur sporadically and in other therapy sessions also. Sometimes we plateau for a while, sometimes everything bubbles out like a waterfall waiting to be released. Anytime we work on the body the mind and soul is present and changes with the body changes. It is good to have quiet time after a session Give yourself time to rest and reflect. |
