What is Integral Yoga?

Integral Yoga was brought to us by Yogiraj Sri Swami Satchidananda who received the knowledge from his master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj and his masters before him.

Integral Yoga is a combination of specific methods designed to develop every aspect of the individual: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. It is a scientific system which integrates the various branches of yoga in order to bring about a complete and harmonious development of the individual.

Some of the main branches

Hatha Yoga: Bodily postures, deep relaxation, breath control, and cleansing.
Karma Yoga: The path of action through selfless service.
Bhakti Yoga: The path of love and devotion to God.
Raja Yoga: The path of meditation and control of the mind.
Japa Yoga: Repetition of mantra.
Jnana Yoga: The path of wisdom, realizing the oneness.

Integral Yoga is the synthesis of all Yogas. The goal is a body of perfect health and strength, mind with all clarity, calmness, and control. Intellect sharp as a razor, will of steel, heart full of love and mercy, a live dedicated to the common welfare and Realization of the True Self.

In yoga classes we move into postures called asanas. We coordinate the movement with the breath. The definition of a posture means one that gives steadiness and comfort. All asanas should be practiced with the utmost ease and comfort.

Everybody young and old can practice yoga, even people in wheelchairs and hospital beds. Yoga is not only effective in the prevention of disease, but also in aiding the cure of existing disease as well.
